#AToZChallenge Day 19: Serving

The word serving appears in white on a dark red background.

My theme for this year’s A to Z Challenge is faith and encouragement from a Christian point of view. I hope these posts are an encouragement to you. I am addressing these posts to myself as well.

Serving

Serving others is viewed as one of the highest callings by many. Mother Teresa is so popular for this reason. For Christians, Jesus Christ is the greatest example of what it means to serve others. As Christians we are called to serve others, this means that we have to put others first.

I must be honest and say that I am writing this mainly to myself. I am someone that has a hard time reaching out to others. I tend to keep to myself most of the time. I also find that I don’t think that I have anything to offer and I am not sure how I can serve others. I am visually impaired and I have to ask for help once in a while but I don’t know how I can help others.

Jesus Christ came to be a servant to others. He came to help others. He healed the sick, he set people free from demons, he came to save the world. I am called to help others as well. It does not take much to help someone. Here are some ways that anyone can serve.

Prayer : prayer is powerful and you can do it from anywhere, so even if you are confined to a bed you can serve others by praying for them.

: you can reach out to others and be a friend. The Bible says in Proverbs that to have friends you must be friendly.

Donate: you can donate food or clothes to those in need.

There are many other ways to help others but the most important thing is to put others first. This is something I have to work on but I hope this will encourage you to reach out to others as well.
