Love and a little White Lie by Tammy L. Gray is an inspirational and sweet short contemporary romance novel that will show you that love can be found in the most unlikely places. This book caught my attention because I had seen a preview for a movie based on the book and I found it to be interesting. I have not seen the movie yet but the themes of faith and love captured my attention.
Love and a Little White Lie by Tammy L. Gray
January Sanders moves into a cabin at her aunt’s property after going through a terrible break up. She takes a position at a church as an administrative assistant but does not disclose the fact that she is not a Christian. She ends up falling for and dating the guitar player at the church and things get interesting as she tries to hide this important secret. She also becomes close to an architect who works at her aunt’s property and she is forced to face the truth in many aspects of her life. It is not easy to keep up a lie and hard choices will need to be made but God’s love and forgiveness is present in this story. This is the first book in the State of Grace series.
What I enjoyed about this book
One thing that I really liked about this book is how the author wove in the themes of faith and God’s love into the story. She wove these themes in a non-judgemental manner.
I love that this story is very relatable and that the characters are very realistic. My favorite character is January Sanders. I love the way her brain works and she has a great personality.
I also really liked how the author developed the relationship January had with the architect over time. You will have to read the book to learn about the moments they had but it really added an interesting touch to the story.
This story made me smile along the way and it has a great ending.
What I did not like about this book
I enjoyed this book over all. I think the story was good. I do wish that the ending would have included more details but I think that is to be continued in the next book in the series. I do not have anything negative to say except that there are some scenes that include some physical intimacy such as kissing and making out so if this was a movie I would give it a PG rating.
Some extra thoughts
This is a short fun read and I think if you are looking for a contemporary romance novel with a Christian theme that you will enjoy this book. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
